ONTARIO- YOUR AUTO INSURANCE IS CHANGING EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2026 – KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

🚨 BIG CHANGE COMING IN 2026

Starting July 1, 2026, Ontario is changing how accident benefits work under your auto insurance policy.

⚖️ WHAT IS CHANGING?

After July 1, 2026:

Only Medical, Rehabilitation & Attendant Care benefits remain mandatory

All other benefits become optional, including:
• Income Replacement Benefit (IRB)
• Non-Earner Benefit (NEB)
• Caregiver Benefit
• Housekeeping & Home Maintenance
• Death & Funeral Benefits

🔄 WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR CURRENT POLICY?

If your policy renews after July 1, 2026 (e.g., September 2026, January 2027):

Your policy will be under the new SABS system
BUT your existing benefits will continue automatically

UNLESS you choose to remove or reduce them

⚠️ IMPORTANT: THE REAL RISK

Insurance companies may offer:
• Lower premiums
• “Customized” or reduced coverage options

👉 If you sign or agree without understanding, you may lose critical benefits.

📉 WHAT YOU COULD LOSE

Without proper coverage, you may NOT receive:
• Weekly income support if you cannot work
• Compensation if you are not employed (NEB)
• Support for dependents (Caregiver benefit)
• Help with housekeeping during recovery

💡 REALITY CHECK

“The law is changing — but the real danger is not the law.
It’s making the wrong choices at renewal without understanding what you are giving up.”

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

✔ Review your policy carefully at renewal
✔ Do NOT rush to accept lower premiums
✔ Ask questions before signing anything
✔ Consult a licensed professional if unsure
